In 1997, I was born in Bad Nauheim, Hessen (Germany), as the second child. The son of two people who had fled Pakistan years earlier. The reason: political persecution of a religious minority. My father's educational qualifications: secondary school teacher of mathematics and history, theologian after 5 1/2 years of study, are not recognised in Germany. During this time, my mother completed her secondary school education. They financed their family life by gardening and working double shifts as cleaners.
