Year 13/28 – 'Who's that poor, hahaha.'
As mentioned before, moving was absolutely necessary. The move brought a lot of satisfaction to our faces. Finally, no more pests and neighbours and, luckily for the children, it was only three streets away. So no change of school or friends. The best thing for me was that we now lived even closer to the football pitch. Our father always accompanied us to school. By bus and train. And he always picked us up again. They heard about all the things that can happen to children, so they were worried, but I also think they wanted to teach us discipline. Since we had to walk to school, there was no turning right or left too much. My parents couldn't afford the school trip without government support, so they gave me 5 euros to take with me. On the first evening, we played billiards at the youth hostel and my wallet was lying around. A classmate grabbed my wallet and opened it without me knowing. I only found out because he laughed at me in front of everyone: 'Only 5 euros for five days. Who's that poor, hahaha.' He threw my wallet back at me. Deeply hurt, I ran out of the youth hostel alone and prayed to God: 'I didn't do anything wrong and he laughed at me, please help me.' I had no idea that a year later my life would change so much that the same people who laughed at me in my childhood would seek contact with me...
