Year 6/28 – Part 1

A new family member, the death of our beloved & starting school in a suit. A lot has happened this year. Part 1: A blessing fills our house. I remember it very clearly: My mum had a big tummy and I didn't understand what that meant. When I asked her, she told me that I was going to have a brother or sister. I begged her: Please, a sister. My parents explained to me that it was something you couldn't really influence, but if I really wanted one, I should pray to God to grant my wish. Every day after school, I grabbed my prayer rug and asked my Creator for a sister. Now it's 12 January 2003. I get up in the middle of the night because I need to go to the toilet. After I'm done, strangely enough, my father isn't standing in the hallway to ask if everything is okay. I see that my parents aren't home. I wake my brother up with: Come on, let's watch TV. Our neighbours had looked after us during the day, and when my parents come home, I can't believe my eyes: my little sister. Alhamdulillah.
